Founders' Meetup: Mumbai

2026-11-02 · 18:30:00 · Mumbai

Mumbai, India

Motion Ventures hosts a free evening meetup in Mumbai on November 2, 2026, targeting maritime and mobility founders across all stages.

We'll be in Mumbai in November, and want to meet maritime founders who will also be in town. We're coming because we're taking India seriously: India has approved a INR 69,725 crore (c. EUR 7bn) package to grow its annual shipbuilding capacity to 4.5 million gross tonnes, backed by a pipeline of more than 400 public-sector vessel orders. (Xinde Marine News) In May 2026, the Sagarmala Startup Innovation Initiative opened maritime innovation hubs at IIT Madras, IIT Bombay and the Indian Maritime University, so founders now have state-backed support from three of India's leading maritime and engineering institutions. Maersk is planning to invest ~$7 billion across ports, terminals, logistics, maritime manufacturing and human-capital development, and Maersk is investing over $2 billion to expand its Pipavav port operations, including terminal and land-side infrastructure. These headlines are just a few of the many major developments happening in maritime in India, and we're looking forward to meeting the founders who are part of it. So if you're a founder still working through an idea, or already have paying customers, we would love to meet you. Here's who will be there from the Motion Ventures team: Adrian Ho, Investment Director Devika Bade, Strategic Partnerships 🎟️ Space is limited, so be sure register your interest 📍 We'll send you the event location closer to the date

Founder brief

Who should attend

Maritime entrepreneurs operating anywhere from the earliest concept stage to generating recurring customer revenue will benefit most. Innovators building around shipping, port logistics, shipbuilding, or land-side infrastructure who want to engage directly with venture capital investors should secure an invite.

What happens

Starting at 18:30, the gathering provides an in-person forum focused on India's evolving maritime landscape. Attendees can connect directly with the hosting venture fund through an office-hours style setting designed for informal pitching and strategic discussions.

Who's in the room

Motion Ventures will have Investment Director Adrian Ho and Strategic Partnerships lead Devika Bade on hand to evaluate regional projects. They will be joined by fellow local startup operators building across maritime innovation hubs and commercial logistics sectors.

How to prepare

Bring a clear, two-minute narrative explaining how your company taps into regional maritime opportunities or institutional hubs. Review your core business metrics, target customer profiles, and current capital requirements so you can make the most of direct investor conversations.
