Founder brief

Who should attend

Early-stage founders working across AI, biotech, healthtech, and climate will find value here, especially university entrepreneurs wanting to benchmark their progress against active campus ventures and discover what institutional Bay Area investors prioritize.

What happens

Student founder teams take the stage at Chou Hall to pitch their startups directly to an evaluation panel. Participants compete for cash awards in front of a live audience, concluding the incubator organized alongside the Berkeley Haas Entrepreneurship Program.

Who's in the room

Venture capitalists serving as judges represent The House Fund, Cal Innovation Fund, Timescale VC, and Cota Capital. Mentors, fellow students, and local angel and venture investors fill out the rest of the gathering.

How to prepare

Review the investment focuses of the participating VC firms ahead of time to tailor post-pitch conversations. If pitching, sharpen your problem definition and commercial traction metrics to stand out cleanly during short presentations.
